Two-tone water

clean & muddy water mix
This photo was taken recently following the latest rainfall, to illustrate the different water colour /quality where the Small Brook joins the Wom Brook.

The larger Wom Brook, having already flowed some distance from its source on Penn Common, has already collected muddy rainwater that has run into it from adjoining fields and banks.

The action of the waterfall section of the Small Brook, prior to its merger with the Wom Brook, has had some cleaning effect on the water.

In the left foreground of the picture, fresh water cress grows in some abundance, obviously favouring the two different water types, and the the greater exposure to sunlight, created by an absence of overhanging trees at the point along the Wom Brook.
